What I would suggest, and am planning on doing this winter is...getting your stock heads ported and polished, and pick up some vt stage 1 or 2 cams. With full bolt-ons, the cams and headwork, you'll see 310rwhp. Hopefully with my 100 shot I will see 400rwhp+

I thought about porting my stock heads, but I cant afford to have my car down for any period longer than a couple of days ( I use it for work). I think ill do a stage 1head/cam pkg to make better use of the 3-6K pwrband.

No way I would spend all the money just to get a "stage x" kit though, when custom ground cams can be had all over for the same price.

Are you planning on going with a forged shortblock with this setup? If not, your wasting time/money on a setup that will greatly reduce your DD abilty with very mediocre results.
So ported heads (stage 1 0r 2) and cams are a waste on a N/A block?....I dont understand what you mean, should I do a stage 1 head/cam pkg for the street then as I only have 50K miles on my engine now. I was looking for an extra 40-50rwhp or a bit better.
You can do cams pretty easy on the stock shortblock and pick up some nice numbers. Most cammed/full boltons car's put down in the 280-290 range, compared to the 260-270 range of your typical full boltons car.

The problem with doing the entire heads/cams package is that its alot more expensive, and your stock shortblock cannot take advantage of the heads higher RPM potential. I would think that at the most with the stock shortblock you would see 300-310 (probably not 310) whp.

Basically you have to ask yourself if its worth about 1500-2000 bucks to go from 285~ to 305.
what does his short block have to do with the REVS? maybe im just mis understanding what your saying. but the bottom end hasnt have much to do with the revs if its all made up top. In the heads, valve train.

Bottom end has a great deal to do with attainable revs. If you look at short blocks for sale they will quote you how many ponies it can take and what rpms it will make. If the bottom end parts aren't robust enough for the rpms desired the crank, rods, mains etc flex and twist and prevent rev up and eventually blow up.
