It is attributed to inproper gear install. Just make sure you take it to a good mechanic that's done a lot of them before. I had 3.90 motives in my GT and loved em!
ORIGINAL: DesertMach

I have Motive 4:10's absolutely no problems with them so far (9k miles on them and a good number of track runs).
I have heard some people complain about gear whine with them, I would just atribbute that to not having them installed correctly...

go 4.10s or go home. trust me your will love 4.10s. and dont listent to people saying you will lose top end. and your car can still go fast. i had my car up to 130 the other nigth and it still pulled pretty hard. and i know it was stupid but it was late at night and ive always wanted to see if 5th gear still sucked and to tell you the truth i was pretty impressed

how can u tell if gears whine with all the whineing comming out of the 3650.... i put some castrol or something syn atf fuild, and i think it got worse, i just order D4 redline i heard thats the best...we shall c
I used the Lucas Transmission fluid additive and that seemed to make it quieter I put that stuff in all my trannies and it always seems to help. IMHO

The guy who I had install my gears would only guarantee no gear whine with the FRPP's. Although a buddy of mine got some FRPP 3.73's installed by a guy who did it for 300 bucks, and he's got some bad gear whine. So I'd have to say the installer is most important. Stick with FRPP's or motive though, don't go any cheaper.
