For cams, you're looking at more than a grand, and the gains will be minimal unless you get better flowing heads (maybe a port & polish job) and stronger internals that will allow the motor to rev higher. If you get a stage one cam, you'll see some improvement, but not worth the tons of money you'll spend getting it in there and then tuned.
I agree, that gears will be the best bang for the buck. You'll definitely feel it more than a CAI, exhaust, T/B & plenum. Go with 4.10s at least, IMO.

Gears are about $180 for parts, and $250-300 for labor. Almost $500. I would say get your heads ported/polished for HP gains. I think you will have some money left over if you port/polish the heads depending on what kind and where you have it done.
