I don't think anyone tuning the car would tune it. They wouldnt want the responsiblity of fixing the thing when the rod snaps in half from the compression and boost. Tone it down to like 6, 8 tops and I think you get away with a nice chunk of HP
Lol you can run 12 psi on the stock block with no problems. But whatever you say bro.
Yes you can run 10 psi on the stock block with the STOCK compression ratio of 9.5:1!!! He is going to have 10.5:1 because he has a NPI motor that he is throwing PI heads on. That compression with that much boost on a hypertenic(sp) motor is gonna explode everywhere into little pieces. Thats why I keep saying turn the boost down. HP is fun, but you don't want to blow your motor up right after you put the thing togather.
The pistons are hypereutectic pistons, the rods are called powder coated rodsand it's a cast crank. The rods will be the first to go. If you have a good tune you should really see a problem with the pistons as long as you dont have any pinging. I don't think the c/r is going to be as high as 10.5:1 but either way if he gets the heads ported it will help. I would also recommend using only 8lbs of boost. I think you will still make some decent power with all your bolt-ons and the cams. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Stop woa hang on! If he used cometic gaskets that are like .086 thick he will ba back at 9.5-1 compression and best of all the cometics are the next strongest thing to orings so you dont have to worry about blowing them. I think they even have a blowout waranty of some sort. This will help. So go ahead and PI swap just use thicker cometics so you can boost. http://forums.modulardepot.com/showt...threadid=51255

Cometic gaskets are a good option and well made just make sure the installer is good and adjusts the timing correctly.
Another option would be to keep your stock NPI heads and get the Livernois PI Intake swap kit. http://www.livernoismotorsports.com/product.phtml?p=457 This will keep your compression stock and save you a few dollars from doing the full PI swap all at one time. Then get your blower cams and Mongoose kit and get your 350-400hp that you want at a much more engine friendly compression. Later down the road when you have more money saved you can add a forged shortblock and ported PI heads to complete you build.

I have the livernios PI intake swap kit on my car and you can feel a difference with the swap no BS it is enough to make you notice. I dont regret spending the money.
