When you get in your lane talk to the guys around you. They are always wiling to help out. Funny thing about drag racin there are no secrets lol. They will tell you exactly what to do at your track, every ones diff. At englishtown i have to wear fireproof jacket, at atco i dont so they all run a little diff. But they all follow nhra rules. Ive only been racin a yr, there are guys in here that have been doin it alot longer than me. Maybe you can find someone that goes to your track. But if you dont 2 or 3 times there and you will have plenty of buds. Hell i even hang with the imports sometimes lmao. Let me know how you do. 4TH gear crossin the trap at anything over or near 100 is a good run. Top speed is what your lookin for when you start out. Mine was 106 on my old motor 13's. I cant wait to see what this one will do. Need bout 400 more miles on it lol. Welp have fun. c ya

Don't try and push your car to its full potentail the first time, practice makes perfect, once you get a couple runs under your belt you will feel more comfortable and start having a beter idea of what your car is capable of. And have fun.........

Your going to be NERVOUS as hell your first time. I was. I was shaking the entire way to the dig line. The place was PACKED! Everyone was watching me. I was lined up with a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. The two Cars in front of us spend away and the signal was given to do our burn outs. I was soo nervous I forgot to turn off my traction control and started my burnout..... My car dies and I'm sitting there with the worlds most dumbfounded look on my face. Laughter and teasing. I started her back up and again burn out and forget to turn off the traction control. More laughter and teasing. I finally did a decent burn and make my way to the line. It took me a while to line myself up. Then came the Lights. My eye on the Tree. Yelllow....... Yellow....... Yellow........ GREEN!!!!!!!!!!! Foot off the clutch, I gunned the gas! All that happend was.... VVAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!! F&*#!!!!!!! I missed first!!!!! How the &(*$ do I miss first???? I quickly shifted back into first and took off with a wonderful reaction time of 3.8 secounds and a quater mile in 18.91

That was about 30 races ago......... You get better everytime.

Don't go in the water box at all. Shouldnt even touch it with street tires. First run i'd say could be either really high 14's or low 15's. Everyones a great driver till they goto the track then wonder whats wrong with their car.

To your above question; you dont break your car from spinning other than wearing your tires. When your tires break loose the torque is exerted through the spinning tires. When you have really good traction that torque gets put on your drivetrain and axle... thats when stuff breaks. You have nothing to worry about. I have nitto drags and I dont even worry; if i got some mickey thompsons or something i'd maybe start to think about it.

My 1st time at the track i was in my GTP. I had raced on the streets countless times and i thoguht i coudl launch like a ****. i ended up roasting the tires through the 1/4 mile ( yes i have a vid of it). i was running agianst a civic. The civic trapped at 15.4x to my 16.09. My 2nd run the tires started slipping so i fethered it, i feathered it to much and when i got back on it the tires started spinning . i pretty muched stoped right b4 the 60 marker.( yes i have vid). i did run a 14.67 that run though. A bunch of guys running big boys came up and gave me some tips after that. My third run was 13.89 and my 4th was 14.01. moral to the story in a FWD car the track was VERY slipppery. I have took my Mustang yet but i am sure its the same

My first time at the track in my Stang my clutch foot was shaking, and like mylongvictor said, yellow yellow yellow green light, foot off the clutch hit the floor with the gas pedal, and spin spin spin, after like 30ft shift into second and spin spin spin trying to feather it and tires finally catch and I clock a 15.7 ET(suck).

Now, I go around the water box back into the water and give a quick spin to get water all around the tires. Pull forward 2ft out and put it in second gear(4.10 gears) and rev rev drop clutch, spin tires then foot on brake to not roll forward much, keep at 4,000ish rpms for about 5 seconds. My BFG KDW tires actually hook with this, I asked my tire guy for the stickiest 30,000mi street tires that I wont die in the rain with.

I do a stop light launch. I let out the clutch and lay into the gas at the same time when the third yellow lights completely. Quick regular shift into second and depending on my launch and dial in I will power shift third and/or fourth to catch up to my time.

Next year I will have 75shot of NOS so I will prob need Drag Radials. As it is it almost feels like my tires want to break loose.
