Wow this got wayyy too deep! I wasn't trying to start a LSx vs. Mustang thread. Believe me I dearly miss the power of the GTO but I don't miss the 600+ payment every month! It was a beast no doubt about it. I never got to track mine but that is a car that you have to know how to launch and drive and a lot of the owners out there were older and there were a lot my age also (24-28). I'm not saying that one car is better than the other although I took a great downgrade from my LS motor. And yes I was used to getting 25whp off of Xpipe and mufflers and decent gains from intake and so on. I didn't realize that the 4.6 would be like going back to my sentra where I would have to lay down major bucks to get decent gains, I expected it to be more mod friendly and get better gains for my money but I see that is obviosly not the case. That is what I was looking for.

As for F/I just not for me. I definelty don't want to get so far modded into the car that it is not reasonable for me to drive and do my daily stuff in. Everyone says that the GTO is slow, Heavy...Yes, Hard to lauch....hell yes, fast....definelty. I've gotten to play with plenty of Mach 1's, C5's, Hemi Chargers, SRT chargers, Lightnings, and GT's (new and old) and for the most part stock for stock or lightly modded vs lightly modded I've come out on top. OH I've lost a few that I never saw coming but it happens to all of us. I paid a pretty penny for the GTO and didn't think it out and a year later I'm paying the price for it. It happens, it's part of life. If there was any way in the world that at this very moment I could get my GTO back I'd be all over it in a heart beat! But I've got to make the most of what I've got.

Oh BTW I got a set of Eibach Sport Lines for free! So I'm all ready to do my install! First mod on "my" new car!

And thanks for all the input. And here's a couple pics of Lucy
Why not have gone for a used C5 or maybe C5 Z ? That would have lowered your payments (well, the base C5). And you would have kept an awesome platform with a responsive motor.
I got my GT for 14k, a decent c5, 03 and up, would run me probably in the 20's which I didn't want my payments that high.
Depending on how much you drive, you could have leased a GTO or something, leases normally knock a good bit off the monthly, guarantee you + equity, ect. ect. ect. Most people with high end cars lease or buy cash. Just a thought. A $600 payment would be like $450ish leasing, depending on how it was structured.

I have nothing against any other car but the mustang is just awesome when it comes to availability of stuff to bolt to it.

The other car that I was impressed with was the Mazda Miata. You can get all sorts of crap for that little bugger ...

dont listen to the morons on this forum. i have around $900 in bolt ons and i can run neck and neck with stock GTOs all day long. dont forget the GT weights around 750lbs less than a GTO. power to weight ratio.

True it does weigh less.... If you can look up the weight of both and the horse power you can easily figure the h.p/weight ratio.

I have driven a couple of cars over the years where there was a V8 and a 6 version including the Mustang. Matter of fact they were a 99 GT and a 99 Pony on the same used car lot.

The two cars felt darn close until you got on them hard.

I would think that a v6 would have its best chance off the line and may handle better too.
