4.6l Swap?
I have a 2002 and just got my turbo kit built. I have almost full bolt ons. The turbo kit is going on my 4.2L(3.8L) v6 and i am promised 445 hp at the wheels. It has more hp but cant dyno it at the wheels because its not in the car yet(engine dyno??). So after spending all this money i got an offer to buy my engine setup for $5k, should i take it and go for the 4.6l or keep the 6? I dont want to buy a GT, because for me its a ton more for insurence im 17. I also dont know what the 2v V8 will handle as HP goes and dont know if it will be enough, i plan on being in the 450 range. My uncle had almost 600 on his mach before it went so i know that the 32v are good. prices would be sweet
Why don't you just keep your engine and enjoy your new upgrades. Seems like you would have more than 5 Grand into your V6 to get 445 hp. Your gonna spend more than $5 grand to get 445hp with a 2V.
If you have a forged short block now, I'd stay with that. The 4.6 with stock internals is maxed out at about 450 at the crank. If you have a forged V6, you can dial up the boost and get more than the 4.6.
Either way, you'll need some drive train and suspension work to handle the power from either one. I'm fairly certain V6's came with 7.5 rears, and I don't think a stock V6 tranny can handle that power (I could be wrong on this).

i have all forged, but right now it is at its max. I have an 8.8 ready, and the Springs are great. Everyone on here with the exception of one persons cool with what engine you have. People in DET. are different and always bash my six, then the light turns and they shut up. Thats pretty much the only reason i want to keep it.
