This summer i bought a V6 automatic 98 mustang, looking back i now know that i have a crap load of stuff to do to this car to make it even half way decent. All I,m looking for now is advice, the good thing is that i have it all paid off since i did not have to pay the price for the V8. so I would really like to put the V8 4.6 DOHC or at least the SOHC so it will have some *****... I have been looking for a price for either of these and havent really found anything. would it be better to find a salvage car because i know its not just going to be an ebgine swap to make this car run. I have also been wondering are the Mach 1 and the 98 cobra engines the same thing or will the Mach 1 fit into my car beacause those alot easier to come buy... any help would be greatly appreciated, also any advie of any bolt on parts that will make my car semi-decent untiol i can get the V8? thanks

Mach 1 and 98 cobra engines definitely are not the same engines! The Mach1 dynos @ 283RWHP & the 98 Cobra @ 255RWHP stock. They do have the same displacement and DOHC. Sell that V6 man and get a GT. I dont know what your budget is but you can get a 96-98 GT for $4500-5000. try to get a 99-04 if possible though

what is with all the half-dozens wanting to upgrade to a GT all of a sudden?! I'd rather see v6's beef up what they have, instead of taking the easyway out with swapping in an 8.... IMHO get a newer v6 motor, and then beef that up... you'd have more respect whooping ls1's with a built v6, than a modded 8.
