I used to have a 96 GT auto Vert, I put 3.73s in it and then my buddy that lived down the street put 4.10s in his 98 GT Auto and it was a lot better, made me wish that I had went with the 4.10s. You live you learn, and I would not reccomend the 3.73s, definitely go with the 4.10s. Personally, on my 03 that I have now, I'm going to be installing a set of 4.30s in the near future. Don't fear the Gear!

whats pi swap??
A PI swap is something that the 96-98 cars can do to really pick up some performance. Starting in 1999, I believe, Ford redesigned the 4.6 heads and made them flow a lot better. These were called the PI motors, from 99-2004. Along with the PI swap was an improved intake manifold and a different cam. All these parts together: the intake manifold, the heads, and the cam, make up the PI swap.
I think that's about it, if I missed anything or messed something up, I'm sure someone will correct me.

well done.

Usually an NPI car can pick up 30-35 hp through cam and intake and 10 hp through the heads via increased compression

choose your gears according to how you drive and how your car is driven if you do alot of freeway driving 3.73 are good becuase 4.10's tend to be too much for alot of highway driving weather you get 3.73 or 4.10's you'll deffinatly feel the difference i was gonna go with 4.10's but i do alot of freeway driving so i went with 3.73's what ever it is its BETTER THAN STOCK!

No problem, glad I could help. And by the way, PI stands for "Power Improvement" as it was a decent power improvement from stock 98 to stock 99 (225 - 260) and even more so over the 96 model, which I think had only 215 hp.

this is with GTs btw... but with sn95 cobras.. the B heads were kinda like the sn95 GT heads were to PI heads as ours are to the new cobra C heads...

if that makes sence.. our cars heads flow better still so then PI but we still had ****tier heads compared to the new edge body style...

dunno why i really did that but.. o well. i guess u get the idea and now that GTs werent the only one
