good idea, i ran nothing but 91-93 in both my gt's.. the higher octane wont increase perforance, but will keep detonation away and tends to have a better cleaning agent in it

It's pointless because a stock Mustang is designed for 87. If you're that eager to spend more money go for it, but it's not necessary.

We have 93 here. If you run anything less when you have ran 93 you will feel the car seem sluggish. Higher octane is all I run in mine and you will feel the difference.

i run 93 cause of my maf but higher octane at most gas stations is cleaner.
93 is harder to detonate than 87. thats why some people experience hard strats when fireing up there car.

If want to spend 12k or so on a car and not run 93 octane, you need to evaluate your performance goals. Tuning makes most power, and the higher octane you run, the more horsepower you can reach.

Yes but it's pointless to run the higher octane until you're attaining the higher hp numbers.

The only reason to use premium (91+) is increasing CR or using some sort of FI (turbo, sc, nitrous)

Then why is it that its better burning for the motor? Why is it that when I run 87 that it feels like I have taking a few horses from under the hood? A mustang is a performance car there for it needs "performance" gas. Now 100+ octane would be for higher horse numbers and strip usage. Higher octane has been proven, in some cars (performance cars mostly) to be better for keeping the fuel system cleaner and better performance. I worked for Ford for 3 years and went to schooling. They make the cars so that they can run on low octane so that you do not have to buy the expensive ****, help keep customer cost down.

Because your brain is playing tricks on j00. Higher octane gas is NOT A PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT. Higher octane gas simply burns slower than a lower octane, (91 vs 87) thereby reducing the chances for premature detonation. (much like premature ejaculation, this is bad)

A stock Mustang GT does not need Premium, a Mach I & an 03+ Cobra do. (I'm not sure if the 99, 00 R or 01 Cobras need premium or not)
