Default Convertable GT

Hey all. I just recently purchased a 98 GT convertable and put my 90 LX in the garage for a complete tear down. Anyway, I love my new car, but I've been getting alot of grief about buying a convertable. I want to make it a nice high powered car, low quarter mile e.t.'s, even run a road course should I chose and still have a nice daily driver. I'd say about 75% of the people I've talked to about my car have more or less called me a fool for buying the convertable. They say it'll never do what I want it to do and I should have found a coupe. I love my car, convert and all, but I'm curious to see what you all have to say about my dreams for it and if I did make a mistake in getting a convertable. Thanks as always for all the input. Be as cruel as you feel you have to, haha, I've heard it all by now. Thanks!
