In my ranger (5.0,AOD), I hold the brake give it gas until it just about breaks traction then once its moving a little Ill apply the gas (not mash it) steadily until its to the floor. It might just be because the ranger has a superduper light *** end but if I mash it, it breaks the tires loose and goes sideways .

Ive experinced that when the light turns green to just to stomp on it....When i tried to torque brake, the car likes bogs....i gotten my best times just mashing the gas pedal....you shouldnt torque brake unless you get a stall IMO.

Id power brake it to where its just barely gonna spin when you let off and mash it. The track will be different from the street b/c of prepping (of course depending on where you go). You'll be able to launch a little harder at the track.

I always manually shifted it. Mine seems to get up to speed a lot quicker manually shifting. But I also have gears, a stall, and a shift kit.

How do you like those 4.30's? What do you top out at (if you know)?

I've had a lot of experience racing at the track with my mustang and I have found in my opinion, that if you powerbrake it to 1500, your car should be able to hold it. Make sure you pump the brakes a couple times. The stock converter should be ok for powerbraking it at those rpms.

I love em so far. The car gets up pretty damn quick. Top out is hard to say. My speedo needs calibrating and it sticks at 110 (which is closer to 85-90 I THINK). I know at my guesstimate of 80 Im up to about 3,200-3,400 rpms...

But its rough in rainy weather like today. I literally fishtailed all 15 miles to work. Was a terribly scary ride....
