Default Adjusting throttle cable for slack

I have a 2000GT and apparently the 1999 through 2000's have slack in their throttle cables. I know that there is a write up on how to adjust it with clamps and tubing, but I did that and then the tubing came off the first time I stomped it. Is there a more permanent way or adjusting my throttle cable? I know where the cables goes, but I don't want to screw around with it without knowing what I am doing.

I tried that. The tube came off the first time I put it to the floor. It is very hard to get in there also. It took me and my friend about 30 minutes simply because we couldn't get 2 arms in there at the same time.

I didn't know if there is a way to tighten the cable at the other end though.

go to home depot and get a one inch aluminum spacer and cut it then put it around the cable just like the tubing. Then i sqeezed it tight with pliers and put 2 zip ties on it. It wont rip off like the tubing but sometimes it might rattle.

don't do it - it does nothing and you will break your throttle cable when you floor it - very dumb idea

I got some aluminum tubing that was slit down the middle so i could slide it over.Just bent it shut and never had a problem since.

I used a nylon spacer and cut it to size. Then put a small slit in it and slid it on and used small hose clamps to keep it there. Been there 2 years and never a problem.

Not true. The pedal doesn't travel any farther then it did before it just drops the rest position.
