The iTrip blows. Get a different brand that actually works. I got an iTrip to use with my iPod and I've really never used it at all. Their range is.... non-existant. I couldn't even get it to work in a car in long distance (mono) mode without a ton of static, no matter what station I chose. Do yourself a favor and save for a new headunit. I seriously doubt you have to give up your amp and such. You might have to do a little re-wiring yourself, but it's not hard, and I can give you whatever wiring schematics you need, just PM me.

Why not just get a Monster FM transmitter. Definately worth the money. Has 3 channels that are adjustable to low reception stations. It plugs into your cigarette lighter and plugs into your iPod's USB dock connector, not the audio (for better sound quality and security in case it comes out).

It's worked perfectly for me so far, just need to change the station to a quiet channel and off you go!

i dunno man nothing beats the direct monster cable hands down but yea if you spend a good 50 bucks on a trasnmitter then it will work pretty decent, but me I have to have full quality of music... you only notice quality diffrences if you have a trained ear lol

Ok, this can be done for about 80 bucks. The downside is that it will not charge your ipod, and there are no controls for the ipod on the head unit, but it does work without FM transmitters. It is a PIE product (www.pie.net) I bought one and I am extremely happy with it. What you are looking for is

About the only thing not included is a cable from the unit to the ipod. I bought a good monster cable, and have had no problems. Hope this helps.

Just get a new head unit that has a usb and SD card slot. Then you can just upload MP3's to your head unit
