Rear Gears!
Hi I just got a Mustang GT. A 96 with a auto tranny but none the less I love it because I'm 16. I have put on flowmaster 40's and a K&N CAI but I'm still having problems with a few tuner cars I can keep up with them then blow them away on top but I don't really have a practial use for a car that is just hitting 4th gear a 115mph. So I what to regear my car I was thinking 4:10s but I've also been told 4:30's would work better for me what do you expereinced people think?
P.S. I would still like a strong top end of at least 125 so will the 4:10s or the 4:30s work better for me?

HOLY CRAP! I just read that my car has 2.73's! I saw that once before but thought it was a typo that meant 3.73 not 2.73! What kinda speeds does ford what us to do 175?
I'm going with 4:10s for sure That I'm only 16 so I have no business going over 115 on a empty road let allown what this car will do with 2.73's.

NO, NO I didn't max out at 115 I'm saying as a new driver I don't have any business going any faster. I had my car doing 125 this morning before school up at the local drag strip Well the high school drag strip that is.
It just doesn't seem to pull hard enough and it seems to not have enough power to pull up top ethier untill like 120 in fourth gear its just slow tell it getts some revs.
Basically it is just way over geared. I also do near zero highway driving I'm a girl getter not a highway cruiser.
