Default Functional roll bar - anyone? (link within)

99-04 Rollbar

Has anybody gotten this? Seriously considering it as it is indeed functional, as is a friend of mine for his 03. Any help whatsoever would be great!

I'd probably paint it black, polish/clearcoat it, or powdercoat it black. It will also get some foam padding, and probably a windscreen to help with draft. What do you guys think?

I've emailed sales with some questions, I'll post the answers once I get a reply.

Why do you need it?

Peace of mind? I'd rather spend 500-600 on a functional roll bar than 500-600 on a cosmetic 'light' bar.

Piece of mind? You plan on drag racing that thing? I wouldn't worry to much about it. Ford put enough strength in the A-pillars to save you in an every-day roll over. Not to mention it's pretty dang hard to roll over these cars. if you do turn them turtle, I doubt a roll bar is going to help all that much.

I'm not sure I follow...are you saying this is a waste of time? Or the light bar is a better buy?

So nobody has ever rolled a 99-04 GT convertible? Ever?

Thanks for the reply GT_Bob. No, I won't be racing period, just daily driving. I've never really driven a convertible for more than 10 minutes, and never with the top down. This car is a LOT faster than my current one, so I'd like to be as safe as possible in the unlikely event of an accident. With the plus side of having a good-looking functional roll bar.

Yes, I'm sure someone has. Don't be silly. That bar will look very odd in your car.

I hate to say it, but you are not going to find a roll bar that is worth a darn that doesn't protrude overhead on a convert 'Stang. There are several manufactures that build very good roll protection for the 'verts. They all have one thing in common. When the top goes down, the car looks like crap. JMO
