Default Son of a.......................

Ok, I went today finally to get some new shoes put on my 98, and in the process of them pulling the rims, they noticed something odd... Both rear calipers had locked up completely, one wheel stud had broken off, and both rear rotors were completely shot. So, on top of spending over $600 on new tires, I had to go by the part store and pick up two new rotors and calipers for another grand total of $250.[:@] Of course my cousin that traded me the car told me nothing was wrong with the ones on it, but he had a new set of calipers for it. (Which seemed really odd to me anyway if nothing was wrong with the ones on it) and once I called and told him to send me the calipers he had, I cant get him to answer the phone now.

Damn family will try and get you sometimes eh? I was gonna spend that $250 towards either a tuner or else a TB and plenum....

Yea I knew that from the beginning. But we grew up like brothers until I moved away. I had always been honest with him and vice versa, but if he had the calipers already, I'd say he knew the ones on the car were bad. Because they werent an upgrade that he has, but instead stockers. So why replace stocks with stocks unless something is wrong?

I go home in two weeks for Thanksgiving, and I'll make sure I give him plenty of thanks if I dont either get the calipers or the money for em. I traded him a car with nothing wrong with it. Which granted, this isnt a HUGE deal, but it is when I just had to come off about $650 for tires since the ones he had on it on the front didnt fit right and the ones on the rear were drag radials. I'm gonna sell the radials to recoup some money. I didnt mind the tires at all. I usually swap em out when I get something new anyways. But the brakes he told me when I met him to get the car that they had started squealing just a bit and to get some pads....

I did get the pads, but I had to get everything else as well. I guess the plus side is that now all of the rear brake system will be new.

Well since he's like a brother, punch him in the face really hard and make him give you the calipers, lol. j/k that sucks, but at least it's fixed and you're much safer now.

Since he's family, I'd look past it and just move on & never do a deal like that with him again.

Either way, the car is fixed and now it's no longer a problem. Enjoy it and move on!

Yea swapping out calipers and rotors on this car was a lot easier than I thought. It only took me about 30 minutes to do the driverside. I stopped for a smoke break, and after this I'm goin back to do the pass. side. Then once I return the calipers for the core money, I'm gonna use it for two front rotors. Might as well go all the way around. Can you get the Eclip that holds the emergency brake cable to the caliper at the part store? The pass side is unhooked and missing that clip.

you should be able to get an Eclip at the auto parts store. It might be in the section with the HELP! parts. you probably know what I mean.

Awesome. I'll get that while Im there tomorrow. The rear brakes are nice now. I never knew they werent working. I can definately feel the difference in stopping power. Now if I can spend some money on performance for the car instead of catching up on maintenance I'll be happy.
