Default Radar detector Laws

I have to drive across 4 states, 1 of which I know it is illegal to have a radar detector (GA). Does this mean I has to be off, or completely removed from the windsheild? Mine is hardwired and i have a toggle switch for power. I just flip the switch when I go on base, since you can't have them on there. What do you guys think?

I would say it would have to be removed from the windsheild, because there is no way to prove you didnt have it on if it is on the windsheild.

The use of a radar detector in a passenger vehicle is legal in all states with the exception of Virginia, Washington DC. and on military bases.

found some good info:

http://www.radarbusters.com/support/...ector-laws.asp

"The use of a radar detector in a passenger vehicle is legal in all states with the exception of Virginia, Washington DC. and on military bases.

Radar detectors are illegal in all commercial vehicles weighing over 10,000 pounds

In Canada, the only three provinces that allow their use are Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan.

Many overseas countries also ban their use, such as Portugal, Finland and Spain.

In areas that radar detectors are illegal, law enforcement use a device called the Spectre that is able to detect the use of radar detector in your car or truck. For more information on the Spectre, click here.

Laser Jammers and Radar Jammers are illegal in the states of Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois and Washington DC."

cool so GA is good to go.

I used to live in Virginia when I got my first speeding ticket, and that's why I bought a radar detector in Maryland. The only states that outlaw detectors is Virginia and D.C. or any cities that have signs posted. I have gotten two tickets for using the radar detector and that was because I had it on the windshield. It's only like a 25-35 dollar ticket, but still. I fought both of these tickets in court and won both cases because the officer could not prove that I was using it. I had the cord unplugged when pulled over.
