Default oil consumption past valve seals

Hey everyone... been a while since I posted up here.

I'm planning a complete engine teardown or replacement once my family is settled in our new home (We have a garage and a HUGE barn :-D)

I was wondering if there are any additives that I can put in the oil to shut it up for a bit. Tomorrow I'm gonna change the oil (it's time anyway) and put in 10w40 with this valvoline seal additive.

I have also heard a trick from various people if you add one pint of brake fluid to the oil it will make the seals swell and stop the smoke for a while?

Any truth to this?

Any input let me know, thanks!

George

It isnt suggested to put thicker oil in because it wont flow through the head correctly (at least thats what Ford told me). I would suggest doing a compression test before you spend a bunch of money on stuff that may not work. A compression tester at Auto Zone is only $15 and $10 for a remote start trigger. That is ofcours if you have a compressor. If you have any questions let me know I can tell you exactly how to figure out where you are burning oil.

did a compression test already, about 150 psi all around and all cylinders are pretty much even. It still screams (for an NPI)

I have no cats so I can watch the smoke easy, and it only smokes after it's warmed up and after an idle, i tap the gas and it lets out two nice clouds of blue and while I'm driving I get nothing. I'm in school for auto repair so I know my way pretty well around this car. Just know it needs a new or rebuilt engine and just looking for some temp fixes. Idon't hink the 10/40 will harm it, specially with high milage

all you need is valve seals.. not a new engine.

I know that. But I tried replacing them and my hands physically aren't capable of doing it with the engine the way it is set in the engine.

Not to mention the NPI is weak as fugg... I want to swap in at least a PI...
