390 swap
hi guys. anyone ever have experience or hear of anyone swapping a 390 FE motor into a sn95 body? just wondering how involved it might be, since it is a high possibility that I will try it over this winter. If anyone has any info, please let me know what I might need. Thanks.

RE: 390 swap
You have this in General, too.
I already type stuff there.
This is in addition.
The 390 shares the stroke with the high-revving 427. Built right, the 390 will run 7k all day long with more torque than most people know what to do with. They weigh 650 pounds in all their iron glory (compared to 450 for the lighweight 302). Adding aluminum heads and intake can shed probably 100 pounds off of that weight. I don't know the weight of the 4.6L, but it's in the same ball park.

RE: 390 swap
I do know that they are awesome source of power in almost any vehicle. I had a '68 2dr Galaxie 500 390ci/300hp that really rolled for such a heavy boat and my pal had the Torino same year, which had a 390 with 428 heads and a very rare 6bbl setup with a 4 spd-that was insane fast. Another friend bolted a 390 into his '68 Mustang with a c4 auto which was a great improvement. Don't know how friendly it would be placing into a modern GT. I imagine anything can be done wth enough $$ and willpower.
