Full exhaust: longtube headers, midpipe and catback will net you around 15rwhp and around 20lb ft of torque. $1300.00 for Longtube headers + install (which includes shorty midpipe), catback, which is anywhere from $200-$2000.00, plus install. Also, you need a tune in most cases anyway due to the O2 sensors, unless you get MIL Eliminators, but again those things tend to break.

I would advise against longtube headers, because it's not worth it. Longtubes, should be the last thing you do, because if for any reason you have to drop the tranny, clutch, or anything from the engine you have to drop the longtubes again. Which is again a PITA. Exhaust in my opinion, is strictly a sound upgrade - you will get a few ponies here and there, but that's just a bonus.
I disagree .. If you have access to a lift and you are mechanically inclined.. you can do LT's yourself ... relatively pain free .. MAC LT's and O/R H Pipe .. 435 to your door .. a couple hours on the install .. coupled with your new mufflers and turn downs .. you get a great sounding and ultimitely 20-30 rwhp on the mod .. pending addition of F/I of course.. either way .. it sounds great .. and well worth it IMO .. My exhuast .. Headers back of course .. ran me $ 530 (Mac LTs, O/R X, some 2.5" piping and 2 magnaflow mufflers...)

It is almost amusing to me how people are so quick to add more power to their car and yet the tires are the only part that touches the ground and they are ignored!
Oh well I guess I have been there too.

I am making 420~ whp and with 275/40/R17s the car hooks up fine on the street with a bone stock suspension. IMO you are not going to see great gains with suspension alone on a 2v unless you are talking about a strip only car with slicks. I guess it comes down to your preference of having a fast street car or a fast track car. Just know that a full boltons GT with a bone stock suspension and a set of drag radials will still hand a car with all the suspension work in the world and a set of drag radials its *** in the average street race.

Could always spend money on a good cam ($1400.00 or so) and it'll net you mid 20rwhp. I again, would take that $1400.00 and set it towards a good Vortech, or Procharger, or even a KB. Although, you said that's out of your scope
I agree that FI is the only way to go to make big power, but I disagree that a full exhaust is a waste of money. Most cars make more than just 15 WHP with the exhaust. The average bolton GT will make 265~ WHP with all the tricks, but most of that power comes from the exhaust. I wouldn't think that 25+ WHP is unheard of with a full exhuast and a tune. Put it this way, with just the boltons and some drag radials I was putting busslengths on stock PI GTs. 265 vs 225 doesn't seem like alot, but it sure makes a big difference.

I definatly would not put a set of cams in a car with no LTs on it though. I just cannot see the power gains from cams being realised with a car that has the restrictive stock manifolds on it.

Also, whoever said LTs are "realitivly pain free" didn't install headers on the same car I did. With acess to 2 full time mechanics it was still a total bitch, and that was with the car 6+ feet in the air (held up by forklifts lol).

haha 2000... yeah, I was watching them install my headers.. which is why I won't do that to this car, until im done with mods... I didn't say the LT's are worthless... they're just not worth it on a car that you're doing just minor things on, UNLESS you can do the work yourself... a lot of people cant, because they dont have the tools - thats all I was saying. I would also advise to change your clutch first, if you plan on doing more mods down the road which will make you need a better clutch application, before you put the LT's on... I just have had to many tuners tell me how much of a b**ch it is, to have to drop the LT's just to get to the clutch... If you plan on staying below 350rwhp, the stock clutch is fine.

I agree with the cams statement too.. no cams w/o LT's - but people run em, just don't get as much power as they could from them... but, most people i've seen with LTs dont see that much rwhp from them... I know a lot see more torque. Most of what ive seen ranges right around 15rwhp/25lb ft tor.

When $600.00 turns into over a 1,000.00 if you have to pay someone for the job, just is a lot of money - that's all. lol

I think the first mod should be the shifter. Get rid of that crap stock shifter, it's a piece of garbage.

If you get a stage 1 it doesnt require you to get new valve springs.
