Default could this do DAMAGE?

so yesterday i was drivin around i i got on it hard in first and second to about 60mph then went straight into fifth. so could that do any damage to my engine or anything else since it is slowing down th motor so fast?

I do something like that all the time. I wont floor it, but ill accelerate kind of fast to 3rd at about 45mph, then throw it 5th to cruise. Im told it wont hurt anything, unless you floor it in 5th also. But just sliding it into 5th as an overdrive, i cant see why it would hurt anything..

oooh no i don't floor it in fifth. i just do what you said you do just put it in there for an overdrive. thanks thats good to know

No, it wont hurt anything at all. Think about an automatic. It doesnt go 1 2 3 4 OD evertime it goes into OD, it might go 1 2 3 OD. You are hurting nothing at all.

howd you get it in fifth from second, every time my dad overshot 3rd it ground like a som-bitch. i dont overshoot cuz while it was in downtime i was practicing shifting constantly.

As long as you're not powershifting to fifth, as in letting the rpms wind down before you slide it over, it slips right into gear for me.
