Default axle damage with slicks question

I've been reading a lot and had a question. Why is there driveshaft/axle damage sometimes when you run an immense amount of power with slicks or DD's??

This is my theory, correct me if I'm wrong:

When tires break loose and lose traction, its because there is too much power/stress on the axle for them to grip the road. So when you correct this by getting better tires, there is still the same amount of stress on the axle, but no relief from this pressure. So it hurts the axle cuz the tires cant break loose to relieve the power?? Make sense? Or am I completely wrong?

I started a new thread because my question wasn't really answered in the other one. There was a discussion, but not about WHY the damage happens. Thats what I was wondering. The other thread was about upgrades.

So can anyone else actually give me some knowledge, it would be much appreciated.

Think of it like this. Take 1 straw, using both hands. The straw represents the axle, your left hand represents the tire and your right hand represents the motor. with the right hand spin it and with the left hand very gently squeeze on it. The straw sill rotates with a little stress on it. This represents normal tires (wheels spinning). Now, repeat the procedure but this time squeeze the straw tightly with the left hand while spinning it with the right. What happens? The straw kinks and bends (the axle breaks and twists). This is a crude description, but gets the point across. Slicks provide so much traction they can cause weak axles to break.

Damn...good analogy lol.
