Gear Whine? Two questions.

Gear Whine? Two questions.
I have a 2003 GT Automatic that seems to have a VERY SLIGHT, differential gear whine when COASTING down from 40mph to 30mph.
If I give it a slight bit of gas the whine disappears.
Again, this is very slight and seems to start once the car is warmed up.
Having driven mostly luxury cars in recent years (ie: living rooms on wheels) for the most part, I suspect I am sensitive to hearing and feeling everything (those Eagle Gaterbacks are like rocks!!) because I am not used to driving a sports car yet.
The car only has 17k on it and I have 2000 miles left on the warranty so I am looking for advice before I have Ford look at it.
Car hasn't been abused and original gears are in it etc.
Personally, I don't want Ford screwing up my rear end especially if a slight noise is normal operation.
Again I'm not talking about the thing sounding like a cop car siren or something, but it is there.
I was thinking of bringing it by a local Mustang speed shop for them to have a listen.
I was planning on a new set of gears (3:73) as my first mod anyhow.
Question 2 Do the Ford Automatics whine/whirr a little in first gear?
This is unrelated to the first question BTW.
I was just in a late model Lincoln Towncar (limo) the other day and I noticed it whined in first like my Mustang.
Just curious.
TIA!!

if the gears are stock as you say, you shouldn't hear any whine...
My 3.73's whine a tad bit. But, You couldn't hear it over the exhaust until I tossed the rear seat and added the seat delete Even then, it's nothing the radio can't fix

sounds more like the fuel pump then your gears. take it in and have them look at it.

no i was talking to him. even if it has 17k on it, anything can happen. if i remember right you are supposed to replace your fuel filter every 15k. if it is getting clogged it could be causing extra stress on the fp. it could be too many things. take it in to the dealer if its undre warranty bro!

my gears used to wine horrible with stock gears and 24K. Brought it in to ford and got it back fixed.

I don't think it is the fuel pump because it does it under coast only and only between 40mph-30mph.
