Default gutting out the cats

what would be the consequences if i'd gut out my catalyic converters? i've heard that it runs pig rich or something like that but i'd like to do it just for the sound but still having it able to pass inspection, which hopefully they don't do more than a looking test i don't know what they do nowadays.
thanks, nate

It would be easier, less time consuming, and prob less money if you was to just get an Off Road H-Pipe from Mac....

For your car..... Your talking about 6 cats I believe..... Thats alot of gutting, cutting, welding, and tears and sweat. Plus the Stock Midpipe by now is prob rusted all the hell by now.

Just go Mac O/R H-pipe. They are about 150 dollars.

are you sure they actually look for the cats? i know in NY, on 96 and up vehicles, if you don't have a check engine light on they assume there are no problems and you pass emissions

Its not that hard..... Four bolts at the header manifolds..... four bolts to the cat backs.... Mil Eliminators..... About 30 to 40 minutes with good practice.

Or just save up for the Mac Catted H-pipe or Prochamber...

Infact all if not most aftermarket brands of Mid pipes that got Cats are what they call "Hi-Flow" And they're only 2 of them. The flow WAY better then Stock Cats and they're less in number. Give decent sound and tone while passing you for inspection....

SLP and Bassani, if I'm not mistaken, have what the call "modular" Mid pipes... where they sell them with and without cats. Meaning you can bolt the cats on or off whenever you like. Its easy and takes about 10 minutes.
