on my vert the weight difference is not that much of a problem with me...the handling can be taken care of with some after market suspension kit...but the only thing i dont like is hitting around 100mph or + the vert top sounds like its gonna fly out...some leaks...ive driven a couple of 94-98 gt verts and same complaint...so up to u buddy...

Sometimes I wish I had a vert.

I don't particularly like the way the verts look with the top up, but there's probably nothing like driving with the top down on a warm evening. I just think the coupes look so much better, though.

I've had both and will never own another vert unless it is a weekend/fun car. I hated the wind noise and the leaks.

Not a single one of you bought your car only for the reason of going fast. If that was so you could have bought an F-body which is faster without any more money than your mustang is (with the exception of Cobras but those are a touch more $ than F-bodies are). You bought it for reasons stemming from heritage and tradition associated with the name Ford Mustang. The fact is that you like the way they look/drive and for the reason mentioned below.

Since 99% of us here are guys (most between 18-40 aka hormone hell)we also bought the cars because girls LOVE Mustangs. I go to car shows with 90% F-bodies and girls are far more interested in my STOCK LOOKING 'vert than they are in the 11 second F-bodies.

What do you give up getting a vert. Some weight, some handling.

What do you gain? Looks, better visibility, POON

Driven both, own an 01 vert now, in the 12's. only thing you get is the ability to remove your roof. throw some shocks and springs on, and it will handle nice. I would say get it.

I've owned both at one point and will not go back to a coup (unless it was a cobradue to $$$).

Can't really compare the two since the coupe was a '91,and I now have a '00 Vert. There is 'wind noise' but the dual layer (liner) top does a great job a cutting most of it out (I also own a jeep wranger softop, talk aboutLOUD and wind noise!).

Any concerns with power/response, do what I did andslap a mongoose S/C kit andyour'e good to go... Who leaves there mustang stock anyway???
