Default help with gears...

i have a 96 gt thats pretty stock except for some flowmasters and k&n and i would like to put in some 3.73 or 3.55's but ive been told because of the trans being auto and the fact that it shifts based off the speed i would need the get a gear for the speedo. could someone give me some advice on the install prosess. aslo i was told that there are no real tunners for that model year. any advice?

no there are no tuners and the gear doesn't work. you need to get a speedcal from dallas mustangs. it works great and really easy to install. i would deff go with the 3.73 because of the auto. don't go lower though

if you have an auto.....trust me go with 4:10's....it makes an unbelievable difference, especially if you drive it regularly. If you put 3:73's on it you will regret it, it will kill your gas mileage. Most people will tell go with 4:10's aor an auto, and 3:73's for a manual

how would 4.10's not kill the gas mileage, but 373's will. But, I do agree, get 4.10's and not think twice about it. I wish I did with my 5spd.

ok wth everything i have done to my car, even with the locker in rear end. I still get 24-25 miles to a gallon. You will not get that much with 3:73's i promise. My brother had them in his cobra, and they were back out after about 2 months just because of the decrease in gas mileage for every day driving.

IMO get 4.10s... ive seen many people get 3.73s because people said 4.10s ruin gas mileage... indeed it does but not by much. I lost like 1mpg with my 4.10s and i dont regret getting them. I do regret not getting 4.30s like dan told me but o well.

it makes sense, just not like that

i could however see if he was going just fast enough to be in 4th but have 5th bogging, where as with 4.10s he could of been in 5th and not bogged and been fine, if that makes any sense to what im trying to say[&:]
