Default Bad ball joint?

When I back out of a parking space and cut my wheels to the left, at some point during the turn there's a weird sound/feel like I ran over a pop can, cup, or something in the parking lot. That's what I thought the first time it happened and the next time it was during the day and I got out and saw nothing on the ground. Is my ball joint going bad and causing the sound/feel I'm getting? It doesn't happen often, just in sharp lefts backing out of parking spots. It is definitely coming from the right side.

Any help would be appreciated. TIA

It happens to my 99 GT when Im backing out, or making a 90 degree turn to the left. I took it to the Ford place and they said it seems like a tie rod end or ball joint

Well, tonight I backed out and turned to the right and instead of a noise it felt like the right tire wobbled or something. Now I am officially concerned. I guess I need to get it in there air and poke around but it might be awhile since we're expect 6-10" of the white stuff. Dammit!

I guess I'll be upgrading to Cobra A-arms sooner than Spring.

Ball joints go bad. Especially on cars like ours. Change them. I thing their about $35 at autozone. You'll need 2 of them.

I ended up buying a "pitman arm puller." It's a nice alternative to the opposition.
