Ugghh. What I meant to say is do they need to drop the entire rear end? I know its a lot easier to work on this way but is it necessary?

Nah, they don't need to drop the entire rear end.

I work right next to East Hartford. I don't expect them to do it on a lunch hour but maybe I can take a half day. I also spent a lot of money at Mustangs Unlimited. Will xx install the parts if I buy them or do I need to let them supply them?

Check out AA Budget Repair in Ellington CT. They worked on my car and did a great job. I asked about gears, didnt get them installed, but he said 65 bucks an hour and about 3 or 4 hours for install. They build race cars and stuff, he knows what hes doing.

aa budget

They will install for less if you supply parts at XX and you even get a greater discount if your a member of www.lmmc-ct.com joining costs 35 dollars for the year and it pays self back with the first thing you use it towards. club members are getting them installed for 400 for a 8.8 liveaxle rear it seems expensive but they will do 100% and they work on cobras/gt's all the time so if you ever have a issue you just bring it back. Check into the club tell them I referred you if you havent already thought about joining it really is a great group of guys ttul Dan

Dan,

I've checked w/ a few of the places around my area (Worcester), and most of them are quoting between $600-800 for Gears/Labor.. The one place that I did like, cost $800, but they would be balancing the rear axles, complete rebuild, and lifetime warranty..

Still a bit steep, but much better. I need to have mine rebuilt again.. Yes, again.. Is it up where you're at??

Don't forget New England Dyno in Douglas MA, just outside Worcestor.

I got my gears installed locally by a shop that maintains several Big Block Dirt Modified race cars for $120, bearings too.
want to share where atleast give the town if you dont[8D]

It's right out near you...

I want to get out there.. This morning, on my drive to the Cape, my rear axle puked out most of the fluid again... This is getting really, really quick... This is after I replaced the Vent valve, so I'm thinking that the driveline vibration is so bad, that it's tossing the fluid out of the vent..

Thanks for that info. Now the big decision is 3.73 or 3.90. I do mostly highway driving. I am a little concerned about gas but not that much. I would buy one less cup of coffee to make up the difference in extra gas. I have stock 3.27 gears now. A least I think I do according to the calculator someone posted. Its a little sluggish from a stopped position and when I punch it out on the highway in 5th, its not responsive enough. I know its an overdrive gear but I would expect a little more jump. 3.73 seems to be the favorite although a lot have 4.10's. Can't make up my mind. I only want to do it once so I want the decision to be right the first time.
