wut i want to do
is make a killa bottom end that is bullet proof. So should I a) buy a short block already built. Or B) buy a "rotating assembly" and put it together my self?????

RE: wut i want to do
It depends on what you really want to do. Do you enjoy doing that kind of work? I know that you can find some real nice short blocks for some great prices.
But if you enjoy the satisfaction that comes with doing it yourself, go for it.

RE: wut i want to do
He did the headswap on his car so theirs no reason he can't build a good bottom end - and saving $500 in labor to build it and another $500 for engine pulled and re-installed will pay for most all the parts to build the engine anyways

RE: wut i want to do
Yeah I agree, do it yourself, save some money and take a girl out to a nice dinner or something. Plus doing it yourself, you have the added benefit of knowing for sure it was done right and no corners were cut. That's exactly why I never let anybody else work on my cars. There are some real incompetent mechanics in the world and it's not worth the headache when something goes wrong. Just ask my uncle whose rear axle fell out of his truck on the highway...[&:]

sean hyland has a pretty good choice of shortblocks. I have never heard anything bad about them. Except for the fact that md didnt like his book

RE: wut i want to do
All a 4.6 block needs is a stock GT crank, forged rods and forged pistons. The stock block and crank are good for like 800+ hp. Usually though hardcore racers upgrade to a stock cobra crank for hp that high.
If it were me I'd just build a stock bottom end with upgraded rods, pistons, and ARP head studs. Virtually bullit proof.
