So my sister is getting me tints for x-mas and i was wondering what % you guys think i should get i dont want 5% b/c thats too dark. anybody got pics of their cars with tints so i can get an idea of what i sould get?

 

Go 13%. Here's what it looks like on my car:

 

13%? ... i think somebody was messing with you... Im 99% sure that doesnt exist...

go 20%... looks like 10 - you can still see at night and cops can't write you tickets... its the best all around

 

Tint is done in stages of 2.5, 5,10, 15, 20, 35,40,50,75 by pretty much every major manufacturor .. even though the tints acutall light transmission varies between color and style that is what they classify the majority of tints as... and from experience installing tint .. I'd say .. if you want dark .. 5%, if you want semi-dark still black looking then go 20% because a) thats what most places carry, and the visual difference between 15-20 percent is usually color and or is insignificant to the human eye.

 

I run 20% sides and 5% in the back make sure you have someone know what there doing when tinting the back some can do over the dots and others can't and some just know they cant and cut below the dots

Is 20% the darkest legal tint? And whats the average cost including labor?

 

average cost on a mustang is 150 - 175 dollars .. if you're smart .. you'll get to know a tint guy in your area hahaha ... beware of guys that do tint jobs for cheap .. as in 99 dollars... if you want to know whats legal in your state go to www.llumar.com and they have a chart with everystates tint law posted

 

I would probably go with 20%. I had 5% on my Mirage when we first got it(previous owner) and it was so gay driving at night it seriously was dangerous. Then the second day I got pulled over and the ******* gave me a ticket for that.

 

5% is stupid ... really and 5.0 is gonna bust you sooner or later - they cant tell with 20 - looks almost as good during the day and the same at night - but not dangerous like 5.... hell I had 2.5 once - but its gets old really quick... for a mustang tint should run 150 bucks - and tell them to throw in a front strip for free - of 2.5% - and make sure the strip is 9 inches or bigger... trust me

 

It sucks in virginia, the limits are
50% for front windshield
35% for the side windows
35% for the rear window
