I have never found any paint that you can put on headers that wont bake off in a week. I have tried that same paint you're talking about and it burns off rather quickly. The 500 degree paint is for the engine and accessories, they should have some thats rated for 1500 degrees. That works a little better, but still wont hold for very long.

Does anyone know of any paint for headers? I have a set of regular BBK LT's I'm going to put in and I wanted to give them a spray before putting them in.

You're better off getting them professionally coated, is what he was trying to say...

The regular, out of the can stuff isn't going to be nearly as effective, since most of them don't cover the heat spectrum you'll see.. Plus, the headers will become discolored, and look fairly ugly....

Think of temperatures around 1000F, and then some...

I've used some 2500F Duplicolor paint with success on factory headers.

So there is no high temp paint to put on the headers that will work.

Coating headers is not something I would do yourself... Send them somewhere to be professionally done like someone mentioned above, otherwise you are going to waste your money.

Best thing to do is just purchase "ceramic coated" headers, anything else just doesn't do it. But I realize some of you still may need to get them coated, so like I said, I would send them out, this is exactly a DIY project.

A local parts place had it on their shelf. It was Duplicolor brand engine paint. I used 3 coats on my '71 and '65 F250. The outer coats did flake off, but the color remained and still looks good. Not as good as ceramic coated, however, and doesn't give the benefits. Just looks better than rust.
