RE: gear install price??do it myself??
I'm doing my gears right now.
Three things that have to be right.
Pinion height to make sure pinion meshes with the ring gear properly.
Backlash so your rear end does not bind.
Runout of ring gear.
As long as you are **** and make sure it is all right before you call it done you will be good.
Your buddy got a lift your in good shape, that will make the job so much easier.
On the pinion height setting tool, I found one at summit (kinda cheap) for like 30 bucks check it out.

I did mine my self on my garage floor[&:] it was very very dirty job LOL.. It was a pain in the A$$ keep in mind it was my first time doing gears with the rear end in the car.. I didnt get the backlash totally perfect and they whine around 40[:@]I am to lazy to try to fix it and i am pretty sure its to late now.. Its a great experience but I dont think I would do it again with the rear end still in the car on the garage floor..

yeah its not an easy 2 hour task but its also not a complicated 2 day task either. if you have the cash and want it done 1000% right then you can pay half a grand to have them installed.

that is a bad descision, even professionals out of practice dont do gears... its a very costly mistake - spend the 200 bucks and let somebody else be responislbe for the outcome... or dont get pissed when we tell you "I told you so"
