Butt dyno means nothing... trust me... you if anything gained 5rwhp maybe 7.. other then that they and whoever you went to had a VERY generous real dyno...

There are many others on here that would agree with methat it is a great mod to do and that it does gain you power. It's counterintuitive to think that eliminating 4 restrictive cats would not gain you any power.

You do gain power, but not enough to notice anything. They really help additional mods that you do after the fact if anything. Bottom line, is that the cats aren't that restrictive. You will only see a handful of rwhp off of a midpipe, a couple of more with a catback. You will see the 15-20 combined with Longtubes, midpipe and catback. This is now beating a dead horse, trust me, and search the posts - you'll see.

That's a dyno trick... I can chirp 3rd gear in a stock v6 mustang, it's not difficult...

You don't get 15-20 rwhp off of catback and/or midpipe... the only way to see that kinda gain is with headers...
Take a look at this website
http://www.mach1review.com/CATBackEx...emsReview.html
"Overall the SLP loud Mouths achieved 8.5 RWHP and 14.9 RWT increase above the baseline dyno run."
I'm sure with an additional midpipe, 15-20 will be easily attainable

203 - you waste your money - and find out. Make sure you get a baseline before and after. Just like the Intakes give you 20-25rwhp too right? You may get 1-2rwhp from one catback/midpipe to another... which isn't enough for you to notice. You don't know that the Mach 1/Cobra/GT midpipe is the same? And that the Mach and GT have the same catback, do you? Again I will ask... if you don't gain that much in a Supercharged car, what makes you think you're going to get it in a N/A car?

I don't understand how you can argue with a dyno...did you even look at that site?
And intake doesn't give you anywhere near 20 to 25 hp, but the JLT Shaker-Functional intake supposedly gives you 10 [sm=shades.gif]
And yes, I am aware that the highly restrictive midpipes are the same...
And also, I am aware that midpipes do in fact give cars more power, or else why would people make/buy them? Especially when put together in conjunction with other mods...how would a midpipe with either no cats or high flow cats not achieve more power as opposed to a restricting, catted pipe?

midpipe and catback is more of a sound mod then anything. Dyno's can beinfluenced. I don't believe a word that the write ups ever show. We had a 03' Mach here at the house I live in. I drove it before it had exhaust and after it had exhaust.

All the midpipe is doing is opening up .25"s more, I belive stock is 2.25" and you're losing the cats which again, AREN'T very restrictive. The most your goin to notice with the midpipe is that your throttle response is better. I don't know why people think they're very restrictive, they're not.

Yes I did read the site, but you can go to www.steeda.com - and also see that adding an intake to a 2v adds 7-10rwhp and they have a dyno to prove it!!! In reality - you get about 3rwhp from it. Go spend your $$, and get a before and after dyno. Like Dan said in the first page - you have to pick your poisen. You're goin to spend 200 bucks extra for 2rwhp, save it for something else. FYI - the shaker hood scoop doesn't add 1rwhp at all. It's functional because it shakes - but adds 0rwhp.

FYI the Mach one is a 4V engine, same as the cobra minus the supercharger and a couple forged parts...
And the shaker does function, granted it doesn't add much performance, but it looks good

I know - we owned a mach here. Only reason to upgrade midpipe on a basically stock car is for sound. The power gains aren't worth it if that's why you planned on upgrading the exhaust. Get a gear instead if you're lookingfor a go fast part.

Yes, thats about all the function is.. looks cool shaking, haha...

yeah I guess..I dno about gears though, stock comes with 3.55s which I think are perfect...
I'm definately getting a JLT RAI, PHP Spacer, bigger rims/tires, and U/L Control Arms, and maybe an X-pipe, and probably a dyno tune
