I'd buy the cheap ebay version before I'd do that.

There are no gains from any CAI over a drop in K&N...unless you have a KB or Eaton type blower...otherwise the stock air tube flows well. It is merely for looks. Now a metal one can have a negative effect due to heat soak.

JLT intake FTW
+1

If you're going to d a CAI, JLT is the best performer. Results on a stock n/a motor will be minimal. The more performance mods you do the more a good CAI will help. May as well just buy it once....

I had to put my stock one back on to pass california emissions and it was a huge noticable difference in how free the car would rev. Just my .02cents.

My Tunable Induction pipe was inexpensive ($75)and made a difference between it and the stock air pipe. If you look at the stock pipe, it's easy to see why the difference would be there. That thing gets pinched down pretty small to clear the PCV valve.

I dont plan on getting FI on the car, but I will be doing a TB/Plenum down the road. From what I am reading, getting a CAI will be the best to get everything I can out of all 3 parts?
