I bought a used... passport radar dector off a friend for 50bux... he doesnt use it anymore cause he can get tickets erased. Anyway.. i goto plug it in... and nothin in my car. I know it works because he showed me how it works in his lingenfelter vette. I tried both of the power ports.... cigarrette lighter and the on behind the cup holders.. and i got nothing not even power in the cable.. cause of the powerlight on the adapter.

Anyway.. i was pretty pissed but.. the thing is.. the cigarrette thing still heats up if i push it in. So i really dont know to much about this.. but if it didnt have power.. the cigarette thing shouldnt heat up?

Any suggestions on how to replace the fuse etc.. Thanks

Push the plug in and give it a couple of turns,sometimes they don't get a good connection.Ckeck the in line fuse in the plug itself.You have to take the plug apart and check it visually(if you don't have a multi meter).

yea power is power - are you sure it won't work in someone elses car...

Yeah, the detector worked in his car. About 5 hours later.. i tried it in my car and i got nothing. The light on the power cable plug in never came on. I even went to an audio store and bought another..well i didnt i tested another to see if it was the cable. I just dont understand how the cigarette lighter works but i dont get any power from it...

Oh btw, the cigarette ligher doesnt work in the port behind the cupholders only the other.. so i assume this one definatly does not have power. Would it be a fuse? and how hard would it be to replace.
