Tranny problem...

Tranny problem...
I have an extended warranty that runs out in like 4 months so if my tranny is covered (ill have to check) i wanna get this fixed. If i'm idling in neutral for over 10sec... and push down the clutch and try to put it in reverse.. it grinds. If i put it in any other gear its completley fine... So when im idling and need to go in reverse or whatever.. i put it in first then to reverse and its fine. I dunno if this is the tranny clutch or what?
Anyone else had this problem?

RE: Tranny problem...
I think it's just because the reverse gearing isn't helical, they're just straight teeth so they don't always mesh without a bit of a grind.
Everytime I roll out of a driveway, I'll throw it in R real quick and it always gives a little bit of a grind.

I dunno, because if i very very slow try and put it in reverse.. i can feel the wheel spinning inside on the tranny or whatever.. hard to explain i guess.
Oh well not a big inconvienence.

RE: Tranny problem...
I have the EXACT same problem in my 96gt. I keep my Stang in the garage and I pull it in. So anytime I drive it I have to back out of the garage. As soon as I slide it to reverse I can feel (the flywheel, I guess) spinning around and grinds quickly and that's that. Does'nt do it an any other gear. Have'nt tried to do it from another gear to reverse as opposed to from neutral to reverse. I was thinking my tranny was about to go or my clutch was gone.

Yeah, I'd like to know whether its the tranny or clutch... if it's my clutch i know its not covered... but im not sure about the tranny. Or if this is going to be a bigger problem down the road.
