Replacing alternator?

Replacing alternator?
I am going to be replacing my alternator. I have 2 options of alternators to buy. I can get a used one from a 2002 that was blown up for $50 or I can get a rebuilt one for about $180 shipped and then send mine in for a $40 cash back.
Rebuilt or used? I do not run any extra stereo equipment or anything that puts stress on the alternator, so I do not need a stronger one.

RE: Replacing alternator?
I don't know that the engine was blown up, but the guy is selling a lot of parts off a stang that only had 5k miles. This included the rear differential and mach 460 unit, and 4.6 that needs work and other small parts. I am assuming that the car was either totaled or the engine was blown. Either way, the car had 5k on it when whatever happened to it.

Had my numbers wrong, car had 32,000 when it was taken out of the car. He built the car up with a new engine. He just e-mailed me back. I could get the used one for $50.
