gear shaft leaking?

So i took my car into the dealer today cause i thought my rear tranny seal was leaking and the ford lot said it was my gear shaft leaking. anyone had this happen to them and how hard is it to fix they said is was just the gear shaft seal leaking

Did you make sure it wasnt the tranny seal, maybe they are just calling is something different
