It has push rods. The push the piston up the cylinder wall.

I have a stock 2001 GT block. These engines are not pushrods. 99-04 GT's and basically all these cars are SOHC, mach 1's and cobras are DOHC though. You have a 4.6L 281ci V8, SOHC.
