Default ....P&P PI Heads Cam Question....

hey guys. i have ported and polished pi heads. They are equiped with a set of stainless steel valves and comp cams high lift bee hive valve springs. what cam would you recommend? im doing a PI swap on my 98 and i would like a little extra kick out of it. would i have to change any of the pi gaskets because of P&P heads and better cams? or can i just use the head swap kit from FRPP

thanks!

Rest of your engine stock? I'd suggest any known manufacturer's stage 1 cams. I got the AFM n-22 cams rated for 1800 to 6400 rpm range. My idle lopes so much it dies a couple times each day but I love the car shake.

Without a forged bottom end, you shouldnt go higher than a stage 1 cam. Stage 2 orhigher might make more power, but it would be outside of the safe rpm range of the stock internals.

I would suggest calling the tech support at vtengines. Tell them what you have and whatyour future plans for the car are. They should be able to point you in the right direction. Might even be able togrind you a custom cam.

Be careful with the lift and duration, too high and you'll have piston to valve clearance issues. When ordering the cams ask the shop if the pistons need relief cuts or not, just to make sure you're ok

im not looking for huge power. should i just put the regular pi cams in and just leave it with the ported heads? just to be safe....i think thats what im going to do. im sure the ported heads will give me a nice little extra punch. anyone know how much extra it usually adds??
