how come my alternator got real hot to the touch while the rest of the engine was cool?
al most forgot about this...
the day after my car was hit (in the side - no damage to engine compartment) I was giving it a thorough inspection. While I was having a good look under the hood I leaned on the alternator - it nearly burned my hand but the rest of the engine was cool.
After checking, I realized that I had left the key in the "on" position for about 15 min. but the engine was never started.
WTF?
