have you checked the oil level in the car when the light comes on?

A low oil light is something that should not be blown off! and I would check and see if anything is leaking under the car.

Probably one of 3 things. You're burning oil because the rings are worn, you're leaking oil because your main seals are worn, and I'm not sure if the oil light will indicate this or not, but maybe check your oil pressure. Older cars almost always use oil, so it's not uncommon, but keep an eye on the level.

The first thing i would think you would check is for leaks. lol. I cant think of anything that usually goes on these years for oil problems. But maybe youres is beat. Also maybe youre oil pressure sensor is junk. Very common on 4.0 exp's and rangers. But first things first, check for leaks.

I agree with Casper. But my 96 Gt burned oil like a sumbitch so I just got rid of it. At the time rebuilding a 4.6 was very expensive. Im pretty sure it still is... Dunno, Im a 5.0 guy now .
