Default Warm up time too long

My car (02 gt) SERIOUSLY takes a long time to warm up! Even if I let it idle for 5 mins., it still takes 5 or 6 miles of driving for it to reach normal operating temp. What can I do? Can I get a different alternator? and if so will it affect normal operating temp.?

I don't see what an alternator would do to make it heat up faster. why do you think that would help?[&:]

What the heck does the alternator have to do with engine temp? Am I missing somthing?

I don't think my car takes any longer to warm up than another car.

you guys are just used to driving civics that don't even have a temp gauge. [8D]

My car warms up pretty quick. If you let it idle of course it's not going to warm up very fast, and that's not a good way to warm it up either. Start it up and start going and mine doesn't take more than a mile or two.

The thermostat does not dictate how long it takes to warm up but rather the final engine temp.
