Another dreaded gear question!
OK... So I know everyone is tired with the gear questions... but I searched and searched and could not find the exact answer to my questions! So.... here goes!
What I want to know is how the 4.10's do for high speed? I use my car as a complete daily driver and out of town road trip cruiser... I am usually late for work and am slammin 90-110 MPH on the freeway, I know the gas mileage difference is not that bad for basic driving, but what about at high speeds? how's the RPM's at 80-100mph? Also, what is the top speed you guys with the 4.10's have gotten up to? I have gotten up to over 140mph, when my hood scoop flew off! Thanks for the friendly and constuctive reply's!

With 4.10s at 80mph, stock size tires, t-45 transmission in 5th gear your rpms will be about 2900. At 100mph you be at about 3600 rpm. Assumingyou take your car to 6000rpm in 5th, your speed would be about 167mph (which you would probably never reach regardless). Next time do a google search for "mustang gear calculator" and you'll find all kinds of stuff.

As for top speed, 3.73's would probably be better than 4.10's in a bolt on car because you'd be close to torque peak at around 130 and close to hp peak at150+. Our cars aren't aerodynamic enough and lack enough power to go much over 160 with ~250-270rwhp and optimum gearing (whatever that may be).

Yeah, it's gonna be cranking it out pretty fast when you're going that fast. I suggest just leaving home earlier and don't drive so fast. Save your driving 100 and up for the tracks. And you wont ever run out of gear in your car. Your engine will max out before the gears, even with 4.10s.
