The most pressure you can put into the tire with the full width of the tread contacting the ground. You can check this with a chalk mark across your tread and moving the car around to find the wear zone.
the max that the tire can hold....alot of ppl do that and put 40 psi in there tire b/c the tire seys so, but always go my what the car seys (doorjam or manual)
What is the best tire pressure for 245/45/17 to wear evenly and for 275/40/17 thanks
The reality of it all is that it depends on the Tire manufacturer and Compund used to make it. The "doorjamb" pressure is just a precautionary measure to save the freakin car manufacturs *** incase a lawsuit comes into play. 35psi is really the best overall wear for MOST tires. It will be rougher on your suspension components and balljoints etc. A lower pressureized tire will get more bite, but can be punctured easier. Be aware when you put 40psi in your tire, this is not good, especially if you plan to run your car up over 100mph. At that speed your tire pressure raises roughly 6psi from where you measured it cold! Air expands when it gets warm! Wouldn't be a good thing. I like 35psi so I can take the turns hard and get even wear accross the bottom. I know it's even wear because I did a burnout at 30psi, 32psi, 34psi and 36psi...lol
