What exactly does PI mean? Can you plz give me a little briefing between the PI and non PI parts. I got a 96 Mustang GT. Read on it some but i dont really have the exact information on exactly what the difference is. Still learning on these things. Sorry. Although i did learn a ton from these forums. Extremely helpful and interesting setups. Thanks

the reason they put the 4.6 in the mustang and other cars instead of 5.0 is it was a more efficient design to a old 30 year old engine. granted it's an arm and leg more to mod than the 5.0, but that's because the new complex design compared to the well known design of the 5.0.
the difference of NPI and PI is that the heads/cams/intake were made different, the NPI heads have low flow and flawed port design(very small and restricting) the PI heads have higher flow and improved port design, if you set them against each other you can see the differences, the NPI is kinda teardrop shaped and the PI is just a little more larger. I dno what they changed in cams, im guessing just lobe size. The intake had different size runners to help out with the NPI intakes dropped of around what im told 4000K+ RPMS.
