Default Power Shift?

How do you properly "power-shift" your car, and will this ruin anything?

dont let off the gas and shift really quick. you DONT want to miss a gear though. bye bye synchros. also it is harder on your transmission and probably your clutch too.

keep the pedal to the floor all the time and push the clutch in while changing gears.
i wouldnt recommend it. especially going into 3rd gear.
if you really want to, get good at it first.

It can shave a little time off if its done right. Like everyone else said, its really hard on the entire driveline so i wouldnt recommend doing it often.

If you still want to, practice at half throttle with the rpm's below 4k, that way if you miss a shift you can let off the gas before you hit redline.

Arent T-5's typically weak transmissions anyway? I've seen/read about that a lot.

half a second ET in a quarter mile. Do not speed shift with a stock shifter. It is Extremely hard on your transmission and you will most like break it if you speed shift all the time. Yes syncros will get destroyed, but you will also ruin your shift forks. I broke mine off in third gear and that is all i have now. You will also destroy your clutch, fork, throw out bearing and all other parts involved in shifting. Basicly, yes its faster, but it will totaly destroy your drive train in no time if done incorrectly.

heres the deal. i used to go out at night and teach myself how to speed shift, when to shift, and basicly just teach myself how to drive my car at its best which is why i win more races than i should. the reason why most people with fast cars lose is because they dont know how to drive them, dont know when to shift, and dont know when their car makes its max power. Mustang GT's make max horse power stock at about 5100 RPM which is when you should shift droping you right at the bottom of the powerband. When i was at the track last time. There were 5 sn95 mustangs and i was the fastest running a 14.5 @96mph with long tube headers and an intake. most sn95s are only good for 14.8's. There you go. shifting does make you go faster. so how bad do you want that extra .1-.5 of a second off your ET?
