Default Manifold Studs Help Fast

Alright guys, another day spent trying to fix the exhaust leak at the passenger header to midpipe connection. I got a new gasket for it, but when i was removing the H pipe, one of the nuts is stuck onto the stud and came out with it... so i got new studs and nuts... To anybody that knows, do you have to screw the studs in from ON TOP?! of the header flange, or can you go from the bottom? Also, anyway to get the nuts off of the studs or should I just toss 'em?

ok, the studs are dual-threaded... one side screws into the retainers (on the header side of the flange) and the nuts thread on from the mid-pipe side. If your stud unscrewed from the retainer, no big... all you need is a vice and some WD-40 (or equivelent). The nuts SHOULD screw in from the mid-pipe side... the retainers are supposed to be on the header-side.

Hope this helps!

+1 exactly, the studs are threaded both ways, screw the stud into the header, place your h-pipe flange into the stud and screw the bolt onto the other treded side! done!

Wheww.. I didn't get to read your responses before I tackled it again, but I did it how you guys explained it and my exhaust leak is finally gone! you have no idea how I feel right now.. I spent about 11 hours total last weekend, plus about 4 saturdays before that trying to fix it. Im never removing that damn midpipe again.
