Default Differetial cover gasket question

Anyone know if there's a difference in the diff cover gaskets on a 96 GT and a 98 GT? I went to get a new gasket today, and the fool at the parts store said they don't sell them for the 98 GTs, but they had one for a 96 GT, as far as I knew they where the same. Anyone know for sure?

No prob....Also..I like to lay a beadaround on the cover(even across the bolt holes)and let it sit for around 3 to 5 mintues (skins up) and then stick to the rear...Laters

Yup, no gasket used here! Just don't glob it on, because it will shred up and get up into your axle housings and stay ther potentially causing a seal leak leter on! Just a thin bead will do the trick. I also dabbed some on my bolts as well that way it seal up around the bolt holes a lil bit better and holds the bolts on like thread locker!
